With 30+ years of Martial Arts training, 6th Dan Kwanjangnim Thompson, has mastered the traditional Korean Martial Art of Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo. Upon meeting him you will notice his passion, respect, dedication, and admiration for the art of Taekwondo.
In 1978, Kwanjangnim Thompson started Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo and Hapkido under Master Sung Jin Yang. Moo Duk Kwan is a Korean Martial Art that incorporates dynamic kicking, side to side sparring with circular blocks, foot work which eliminates any size advantages of taller or bigger opponents, and yudo grabs and throws. Moo Duk Kwan and Kyokushin Karate have strong similarties in training.
In the late 60's Olympic style Taekwondo, which is a fighting sport was introduced to the U.S. by the Korean Taekwondo Team. Kickboxing is a fighting sport brought to the U.S. by Taekwondo in the early 1970's. Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis, and Kathy Long are some famous Taekwondo Kickboxing champions.
